DEFEND YOUR FAITH
DEFEND YOUR FAITH
This blog page comprises sceptical views and questions commonly raised during a conversation between a sceptic and a Christian.
Against each claim or issue is a possible answer, although not detailed and exhaustive, that may keep the discussion going. We encourage you to conduct more research on the topic to acquire more solid facts supporting a more credible answer. All defenders of the faith have to start somewhere, and it usually takes a lot of Q&A’s before one can build a definitive and more confident reply.

Sceptic: We don’t need religion to be moral.
Christian: But how does atheism set and define morality? Will morality be based on science? Science only explains the “how’s”, not the “why’s”. Will morality be based on popular opinion? But it varies every time and can be quite dangerous in atheistic and communist countries. Someone who disagrees with an imposed morality in communism means imprisonment or death. It’s only easy to say “we don’t need religion to be moral” in free countries.
Anybody can say we only need altruism and compassion to be good people. But where does the concept of good comes from? It cannot be from someone else’s opinion. Hitler thought it was good for humanity to eradicate the undesirables.

Sceptic: All Religions are wrong.
Christian: How did you know that? Have you studied all religions of the world? Have you looked into Christianity? To say all religions are wrong, one must have an idea of the right religion. (Remember atheism doesn’t like to admit that they operate as a pseudo-religion as well (with “creator” they call Mother Nature or Chance) so what they are really saying is that all religions are wrong except atheism.)
C.S.Lewis (British Philosopher and writer of “Chronicles of Narnia”) gives a proper perspective on this: “A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line”.

Sceptic: Religion is against evidence or logic.
Christian: Evidence is the basis of all arguments in favour of the existence of God. Evidence tells us that the cosmos is finely-tuned to support life. The evidence says that everything has a cause and, thus, logically, the universe also has a cause.
Logic is the basis of all arguments in favour of the existence of God. Aristotle, the founder of Logic, supported the argument in favour of a “God”. The founders of western civilisation, the free-thinking Greeks, were one of the first nations to adopt Christianity.
